Image compressor that works in your browser
Get images down to size for email, websites, WhatsApp and ads, either by choosing a quality or by setting a target like 100 KB. Resize at the same time, save as WebP or JPG, and process as many as 30 in one go, all on your own device.
Free, no sign-up, and it runs in your browser
WebP is usually the smallest and opens in every current browser; JPG is the safe choice for email and older apps. Saving again also removes hidden photo details, such as the location.
Add pictures to see how much smaller they get.
What it does
Your browser opens each picture, redraws it at the size you choose and saves it again, so photos of unreleased products or confidential work never leave your machine. Pick a quality level, or pick a size limit and let the compressor find the best quality that fits under it. You can cap the longest side at the same time and save in the original format, as JPG or as WebP.
Resizing usually saves more than lowering quality: a 6,000 pixel photo shown 1,200 pixels wide carries 25 times the pixels it needs. If saving again would make a file bigger, the tool keeps your original and says so rather than handing you a worse copy. As a side effect, saving through the browser strips the hidden details a phone or camera stores in a photo, including the camera model and the GPS location.
How to use it
- Drop in up to 30 JPG, PNG or WebP pictures.
- Choose a quality level, or a file size limit such as under 100 KB.
- Set the longest side if the pictures are larger than they will be shown.
- Choose WebP, JPG or the original format, and download.
Questions, answered
Are my pictures uploaded?
They are not. Each picture is opened, redrawn at your chosen size and saved again, all inside the browser, so nothing leaves your device. That makes it safe for confidential work and campaigns that have not launched.
JPG, PNG or WebP?
For the smallest file at the same quality, WebP usually wins, and every current browser opens it. JPG is the safer pick for email, older software and anyone who will edit the file afterwards. PNG suits graphics with crisp edges or transparency; it has no quality setting, so it gets lighter mainly by getting physically smaller.
How do I get a picture under 100 KB?
Select a file size limit and pick Under 100 KB. The compressor steps through quality levels to find the best one that fits. If even the lowest setting is too big, it tells you, and lowering the longest side (to 1080 pixels, say) will bring it under.
Why didn't my picture get smaller?
Some images are already about as compact as they can get. If re-saving would produce a larger file, the tool hands back your original and tells you, instead of giving you a worse copy.
Does it remove the location from photos?
It does. Re-saving through the browser discards the hidden information phones and cameras attach to photos, including the camera model and the GPS position.
What size should I aim for?
For a link preview image, 1200 pixels on the longest side and under 600 KB, which is WhatsApp's own limit. For a website picture, 1920 pixels and a few hundred KB. For an email or a signature logo, 1080 pixels or less, as small as still looks sharp. For a deck or PDF, 1920 pixels at balanced quality. Social platforms compress uploads again, so there is no need to go below High quality for a post.
