UAE National Day 2026: dates, logo timing and the rules every brand should know
Eid Al Etihad falls on Wednesday 2 December this year, the 55th celebration of the union. Here is what is confirmed, what is still to come, and how to celebrate respectfully and within the rules.

This year the UAE marks 55 years since the union with Eid Al Etihad on Wednesday 2 December. The official holiday list on the government portal gives Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 December as days off, under Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024. The Cabinet has the power to move National Day to create a longer weekend, but as of early October no change had been announced.
Still to come: the theme and logo
The official theme and logo for 2026 had not been released by 3 October. In 2025, the brand guidelines for the 54th National Day were published on 7 October under the theme United, with separate guidance for government, businesses and residents and assets to download from the official Eid Al Etihad site. If the pattern repeats, this year's could appear soon.
Last year's guidance did not allow the logo to be stretched, rotated, recoloured, given effects or merged with other logos, and set minimum sizes. Leave space for the logo in your designs, but do not finalise anything until this year's rules are out.
Treating the flag properly
- The Cabinet's UAE Flag Usage Guideline says not to place logos or emblems on the flag.
- It should not be printed on disposable items or food.
- Its proportions and colours should never be changed.
Disrespecting the flag is a criminal matter in the UAE, with Khaleej Times reporting prison terms of ten to 25 years and fines from 500,000 dirhams. We did not find an official text that bans the flag from advertising entirely, so follow the guideline and treat it with care.
The emblem and AI
The federal coat of arms cannot be used commercially, on signage, billboards or logos, without presidential approval, under a law reported in 2009. And since 29 September 2026, the National Media Authority has made clear that AI-generated images or videos of national symbols or public figures need official approval first. Khaleej Times also mentioned Emirati national dress in commercial contexts and the dirham; we could not confirm that elsewhere, but it is wise to avoid them in AI imagery too.
A simple plan
- October: settle the idea and leave room for the official logo.
- Early November: shoot real photography and video, and book creators with valid permits.
- Mid November: get approvals signed off.
- Late November: schedule your posts. Commemoration Day, which honours the nation's martyrs, comes just before National Day, so keep that period respectful.
- 2 and 3 December: go live and keep someone on hand to respond to your audience.
December is unusually full. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix runs from 4 to 6 December and GITEX and Abu Dhabi Finance Week start on 7 December, so production teams and media space will be in demand.
